The REAL reason you HAVE to network (it’s not what you think). VIDEO BLOG

People ALWAYS say to me, “But, if I’m good at what I do – shouldn’t that be the reason I get employed/promoted by other big-shots? Doesn’t the cream always rise to the top?”

I feel very strongly about my answer to this question. As you’ll see:

If you’re genuinely good at what you do,
you’re hard-working and you’re nice
– then it’s your RESPONSIBILITY to network!

    Love as always Marsha!

I agree that networking is important. When I think of all the amazing things and people that have come my way either because someone else stepped out of their comfort zone to talk to me or vice versa, it’s truly mind blowing.

I also wanted to share that I shared a few of your videos over on the fired up and focused challenge (put on by the Yogipreneur) when we were talking about networking.

p.s.I think your hair looks cute, but if you’re looking for a hairdresser to help you grow out your hair I’ve found a wonderful on in Daina Schreiber from DKVS Hair, she offers mini appointments between cuts so you don’t lose your mind when you’re growing out your hair.

    • Celia!

Thanks both for your comment – I’m so glad you agree – and especially for sharing my videos! That’s so thrilling to hear, you rule!!

Also ta for the hairdresser recco. As you may have seen in the latest Yes Yes Marsha Mailer Family missive (YYMMFM?), I finally got it bloody cut!

Love this Marsha. I’m getting better at going to events (and am hosting my own now too!), but it’s still scary sometimes to put myself out there!

    • Elyse! So glad to hear you’re pushing through the scariness! Starts to get easier as you do, doesn’t it?

  • I so appreciate you and what you’re teaching, Marsha. Seriously. This is another mind-blowing reframe for me that totally changes how I look at networking (the other one is MIFing). I KNOW that it’s my responsibility to share my message and gifts with the world. I KNOW the importance and value of what I offer and how it can impact my clients. AND I NEVER translated that to networking until I read this email . . . and now I’m sitting here with a stunned and amazed (and somewhat “oh, shit”) look on my face . . . profound freaking moment. Thank you for what you do.

    • Of course, this isn’t an email . . . it’s a blog post :). LOL. I was just so darn excited :).

        Leanne!!

        Holy!!! What a comment! That’s a keeper.

I’m SO GLAD that you’ve found this helpful! I truly believe this. And you’re not just out schmoozing people – you’re only trying to help people that want to be helped – finding people who will actually WANT to help you out.
Hooray! Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know.

(And I knew you meant blog – I’m tickled that you were excited enough to make a brain-o :) )

        • It’s that schmoozing thing that gives it such a yucky feel. I’m all about authenticity and the schmoozing feels fake to me. It’s not me. But having the perspective of helping people who want to be helped really changes things. And I’m totally giggling over the brain-o :).
