Heard you on Art of Charm. When I’m telling a story to my friends, they always try to guess what’s going to happen and ruin the tension and flow (e.g. “but everything worked out eventually, right?”) How can I deflect their questions and interruptions and continue the story. Or, is it an indication that I’ve lost them already?

      Hi Robert!

Sorry you’re having trouble with this. And I’d say you’re right on the nose with your last question – when people are gripped, they don’t feel the need for you to jump to the end in any hurry! But 100% don’t worry, this is fixable!

You need to work on editing your stories. The short form is, practise your stories ahead of time, and ask yourself – what MUST stay in to get across what I’m trying to get across? What is superfluous?

      Here’s a blog I wrote with more: http://www.yesyesmarsha.com/edit
